Tein type flex problem..

On my 02 Is 300 I have installed the tein flex coil overs. After adjusting them to
"their" specs, I have had nothing but problems. The Coils bottom out when cornering hard, going over that damn black patch they do on the lines in the road "mini speed bumps". I put on hotchkis front and rear sways with all the cusco strut,trunk and sub braces you can get. thinking the body just wasnt right yet with teins alone. After one month I had to re-adjust. normal right?. NO. no I have had to do it 5 times. in 6 months. could it be the springs collapsing or just not good stuff for the is. each time it seams to be the spring height that needs to be re done. Trying to auto cross sucks, drifting the car is like drifting a shopping cart " the front pushes hard" and my tire hit the fender. Sorry for the long story. I just need some help.

How low did you lower it and who did the install.

Sorry for the lag on this reply. The car was lowerd 2 inches And a guy named Tim wehe did the install. He has done the stuff before on alot of cars. not Tein im sure or on an IS 300. My thought is mabie he put them in, set the damps all the way (24 clicks requires race springs, 16 is the hardest on the included set) and test drove the car into the ground. Mabie im just pissed (I am) But I just need to fix it. Some people at the sema show in L.A told me about this site. some guy named Jullian from Illmatic who has an Is also. Have You herd of this before or is my lex A new nightmare wating for me to go to sleep....

It has nothing to do with the settings. I believe you might have them installed incorrectly.

have you heard of this before? or is that just a logical estimate of the problem?. if so, how do you think I should check to see if that is the problem? It feels like the car is bottoming out when I hit a corner hard or a bump in the road. I own a custom paint shop in no-cali and have ran into cars with collapsed springs and this is what it feels like?. but the teins are only 6 months old?.
I love this car, I just wish none were ever made.........

What does it feel like when you "bottom out". Also what rims are on?

It feels like someone hit the underside of the subframe with a 20 pound sledge hammer. it's a hard firm and quick "pound" right under the feet. like if you were to hit a center divide right on the cross member. im on stock wheels.

I think your shop didn't instal the top mount rubber stops.

Are you speaking of the white round bump stop on the shaft of the shock?
if so that is on ,and was installed.

Hey steve, I just read that you have a add in Import racer?. cool. I just painted a car for import racer. It will be on the november cover it's a spread on crazy engine swaps. my friend owns Techno Toy Tunning and I did his AE86. The car is sick. it has a f20c motor out of a s2000.Plus im going to paint a car for mike self over there mabie just his bumpers and side skirts. Its a Jblood kit. And ed (senior editor) wants some paint also.Just not sure when.. Mabie we could do a project and get it in there????

Nice. I will be doing A car for an editor of Import Racer soon. He said they would feature mine when I got done with my 2jzgte swap. of course, he dosnt have the final say ed does. I am always open to networking and im sure if we get together we could get you in there to. You have a sick site and im sure your contact list is five times longer than mine is so... make no mistake, I need your biz more. now back to my problem. Do you know anybody at Tein?. Do you have a sugestion. Or am I stuck with bunk stuff. Thanks for your time Steve.

Tein is a hard hook up. JIC is looking to move product and I'm sure if you have invested a good amount, they would partially sponsor you for some JIC coilovers.

BTW how much are the led dash kits? They look great, do you make it for the gas guage as well?. Im always looking for networks so if something comes up, let talk and see if it will work out for the both of us.

That would be great. I just need to finalize a few things before I get into the shows. Just tell me when and what you need from me to make it happen. I won't be ready for any shows for 2-3 months still. Im trying to decide on bumpers,side skirts, or just lips and skirts. and who to use on top of that. Any ideas?? Then it's paint,wheels and im done. The engine is still going to happen but latter in the year.
