Alrighty... here's the story:

The goal for my supercharged car is to keep it as sleeper as possible while still making decent power. To help accomplish that, I'm using the ltuned exhaust... which is chambered instead of straight through. The Ltuned lets me sound almost like a stock IS when idling at a stoplight... if you don't hear the air whooshing out of the bypass or the very quiet whine of the supercharger I migth be just another stock IS300.

Don't let that fool you though... I've also got Toyomoto gen1 headers and the gen1 ypipe... so there are no cats in the car. The only stock part of the exhaust system is currently the bpipe with the factory resonator... when I get on the throttle it makes a ton of noise.

The Ltuned exhaust is more restrictive than your straight through exhaust, however, so I knew I was losing some horsepower. The problem I solved for here was: How do I make power when I want it, but stay stealthy and quiet for daily driving?

The answer came in a form of a McCord Power Plate. Website here... it's basically a heat-rated electric valve which can be used to open up a hole in your exhaust system.

I got the cutout and a dump pipe custom welded onto my ypipe...

I was hoping to get some better pics up on the lift but I forgot the camera when I went to the shop.

If anyone knows me, I hate the butt dyno and prefer hard data... but I will say with the cutout open I'm definitely losing some power down low and gaining it up high... once it hits boost it gets going quick. Feels like I'm getting 40 degree winter air again, but its 90 outside.

When I get hard dyno numbers I'll be sure to post up open/closed numbers.

Any questions feel free to PM or AIM me.

MAJOR props to Batlground Engineering for doing all the custom fitting and welding for me... they did a great job. If you're within driving distance of Atlanta and need work done on your IS300 you should definitely check them out... there's the only shop in ATL I let touch my car, and they've tuned both NA and boosted IS300's. They also have great deals on parts shipped anywhere in the US... Check them out online @ www.batlground.com

Oh yah I almost forgot. My ears are bleeding. :o

It's loud as hell... basically straight off the headers to the outside world. Also, with the s/c there's no turbo muffler effect. Its freaking loud.... far too loud for daily driving. Luckily I can close it with the switch in the cab. icon_lol.gif

Well this kit definitely needs some work.

Last night I didn't have all the wiring completed yet... so at the shop we opened it up, tucked all the wires away, and I drove home with it wide open. That was loud as heck.... so loud I decided I didn't want to have to drive all the way to work in that condition, so I wired the switch to the battery to close it down.

As soon as I pressed the switch it moved for a second (not enough to fully close) then "pop"... the safety fuse blew. Keep in mind I hadn't changed the wiring from the way the unit arrived in the box... only difference was that it was now bolted to the car.

Slightly annoyed... I drove it around today at perhaps 25% open... way too loud. The whole point here is that I'm supposed to be able to close it... and it ain't working yet. :-?

Got it all finally wired up today. Before doing the wiring and soldering I did a functionality check... unbolted the whole system, popped a new fuse in, gave it 12 volts... bada bing... not a problem.

Here's the kicker. I bolted it back up to the car, tried to test it... "pop" there went the fuse again.

Unbolted.. works just fine.

Bolted... pop... another fuse. icon_mad.gif It's shorting out somewhere... but only when it's bolted to the car. Grr. Something to check out tomorrow; maybe a wire just got crossed somewhere. Keep in mind this was before I did my own wiring. Even though I knew it was shorting out I went ahead and did my wiring. The problem is obviously somewhere on the cutout itself (not in the wiring).

Check my cool switch + LED... yay dremel tool!
