Hi everyone,
I just bought a 2002 IS300 yesterday. Previously I had a '97' ES300 that I drove for 5 years. Anyways, I had a few questions about some problems I've had so far.
1.) My car came with one key...no spare, no clicker. I'm thinking it is a valet key too, because it wont go all the way into the trunk, so the only way into the trunk is the lever on the driver's side, which I have no problem with, but I'd LIKE to get a remote for the car. Is there anyway I can buy an after market remote and have it programmed even though I don't have the original? Any advice or suggestions would be great.
2.) Radio/Tape works great, but when I push LOAD on the CD player it flashes "Wait CD 1" for about 15 seconds and then goes back to saying whatever it did first (radio station). So, it never actually lets me load the CD. Is it broken? Is there something I'm not doing right? What is the damage to get this fixed (ack!)?

Yes, you did get the Valet key. I'm guessing it is a key with a gray top. Go to the nearest lexus dealer and they should be able to help you out. The remote keys run about $50 A POP. The car already is keyless and comes with a stock alarm. And yes, the CD player is busted. Tell the Lexus dealer about that too. Good luck girlie, you should have checked out those features before you bought the car. How much did you pay for your ride???

Thanks for the advice. The car is a 2002intensa blue pearl in VERY good condition (minus the CD player of course!) for 15,500. I am extremely happy with it. It has custom rims, which i may post pics of on here in case anyone knows what kind they are.

(grin)...the dealer i bought my 05 from tried that crap with me (1 key). after we settled on a price i made them write me a check for $200 to get extra keys made up. i went to a rolling locksmith (pop-a-lock) to get mine done.
i knew the guy and he made up 1 remote key and a valet key.

i've heard of a TSB / Recall on this problem. i guess it depends on how nice your dealer is. you might get it fixed for nothing. try it and find out.
