How many times has that Subject heading been typed?

Looking at a '93 LS 400 and want to get service history. Anybody know who I can call or get to help me. icon_mad.gif

One guy said it was a privacy issue icon_rolleyes.gif , which I do not understand.

Am I hung on this one or what?

Basically I just want to know if the timing belt has been replaced. That's it!

These guys at the dealerships I've called act like I'm a thief or am going to sue them.

Timing belt boys, that's all. I'll be looking out my window to see if the FBI or ATF shows up.

BTW, here is the VIN if someone can help me.

JT8UF11EP0171592

Not sure if the 10th character is an O or 0.

I've bought the car on eBay but am allowed a final inspection and figured the timing belt might be the most important item on the list.

Even if the lexus dealership gave you access to that information it does not mean the previous owner had it done at an authorized dealership.

Your not makeing much sense. If the dealer shows that it was done.....then it was done. Right?

Am I missing something here?

Won't it show work that was done by Lexus dealers?

altezza is correct...yes it will show work done by the dealer but it wont show u exactly what was done..."changed headlight, headlight out" nah they dont do it like that, it may only show what was done during the warranty process...Even if the lexus dealership gave you access to that information it does not mean the previous owner had it done at an authorized dealership.--i 2nd that response

I think I'm with ya now.

IOW it will state for instance the date the car came in and what dealership, but will not have an itemized list of what work was done to the car?

Still not sure what you mean by "authorized" dealership. If a dealership is a Lexus dealership wouldn't they be an "authorized" dealership? I'm not talking about Jim Bob's Motors that happens to have a Lexus on the lot. They wouldn't have access to the service computers that a Lexus dealership would have and therefore couldn't enter it in to the system if work was performed.

I feel pretty good about the car and all that I have read about the reliability of the LS 400. This is a '93 that was sold in CT then titled in NJ(which concerns me for some reason) then MD and now AR. Has 130K miles and was optioned with heated seats and traction control. My wife has driven the car and I talked her through a quick inspection over the phone. The concerns are the drivers door that does not have the "sticker" on it, the trunk lid which doesn't line up on one corner and power mirrors that don't work. But for $6500 if the driveline is cool then I should be OK.

Thoughts?
