Hi guys, I've been reading the forum for a few weeks prior to purchasing my 98 Gs 400. Obviously I'm not the first owner, but fortunately I was the second and it only has 50K miles.

The first thing I noticed is that the key chain unlock/lock/trunk was really weak, requiring me to be within 10 yads of the vehicle before responding. I checked the battery type (CR1616) and replaced it with fresh ones, but still no luck.

I occasionally get it to respond about 25-40 yds away but not often. Has anyone else experienced this issue? BTW, I've tried both remotes. I can't imagine there is something special on the car's end that requires servicing. I would figure that its mostly the power in the remote.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same issue with my GS3, took the lil bastard to Lexus and they put a new battery in the remote, (free mind you) and I have never had a problem since.

If you put the remote under your chin touching your skin while pushing the button it will use your body as an antenna and will enhance your range. It sounds silly but it works with any alarm remote.

I'll second that. It does sound retarted, but none-the-less it works. Just look around to see who the hell is staring at you. OR you could possibly just freaking set the alarm when your say 8-10 feet away? LOL. I mean shit, who wants to set their alarm or start their car when they are a mile from the damn thing? At any rate that is my 2cents. I used to have manual locks on my last car so what I got now is pretty dope.
