Key Cracking

Hey i wanted to know if any one is is having a problem with there Master Remote Key. MIne is cracking in where the actual metal part of the key meets up with the transponder part. this happened on my cousins IS key too. i tried to fix teh glue with Crazy Glue, but no luck its still cracking. Now when i start my car i have to make sure the BIG L on teh key is in my thumb and the buttons face towards the ingition so it doesnt crack any more.

This is a fairly commen problem with lexus keys.

if it is such a common problem do you think that if i went to lexus and bitched and moaned i might be able to get a new one ?? this is my second key the first one broke the same way ? or does some somebody know where i can get replacement keys for less then what teh dealer wants ?

Lexus has "THEE" best customer satisfaction rating and if you are within warranty, you should have no problem what so ever getting a new key.

You were right i went to JM lexus this morning and in a matter of liek 10 min. i had my new key and i was on my way home. they said that it was under warranty. they said that the key is with the electrical warranty ? so does that mean that within 36000 miles if it breaks again can go for a new one ?

Lexus will stand behind they're quality name to bend over backwards. If one dealer denies your claim, simply go to the next. If you still aren't happy you can contact Lexus Corporate.

Does anyone know how much lexus charge to program a new set of keys?

Before i got the new key by warranty swap , i called for prices of 1 key , they told me each key was $250

I spoke w/ Lexus parts dept - there is an aftermarket key housing (no Lexus L logo on it) that Lexus dealers will sell for ~$110. They can put the insides of your cracked/broken keyless entry remote into the new housing and cut the key to fit your ignition. Requires no programing. You must bring to the dealer the key along with a photo ID and proof that you own the auto (title or registration).

No, streetkeys are more expensive I thought. The place is wayne keys.
