Buying SC300 or SC400 -- FAQ?

Hi,

I'm in Los Angeles and have been thinking about buying an SC300 or SC400.

I've been an enthusiast with other cars I have owned, but I am really looking for a driver now, not something to sink lots of money into. At least that's what I am telling myself now

I'm interested if one model is more reliable/long lived than the other. I like the idea of the straight 6 motor, but the V8 seems to offer more power and gas mileage that's about the same. Any suggestions on one of the other? Also, any problem areas I should be aware of?

If there is a FAQ or something, I should be finding, please point me there.

I didnt know what year you were looking into, but just select a year on those sites and they should tell you anything and everything you need to know..

I'm also in LA area, prior to picking up my Sc4, i was researching about 8 months or so with same question in mind as yours.
After many research and advise from other sc members. I've decided to go with sc400. Of course, it all depends on what your intention is with your sc, but if your looking for modified, street race, japanese ricer, then Sc300 might suit you better, but if you looking for nice street cruiser, with deep V8 screeming, Sc4 is your choice. And as far as reliability goes, many sc owner might agree that sc4 is much more reliable than sc3. I bought mine with 170k with some strut and LCA problems(most common on SC, more like a maintenance issue.) but i'm very happy with my purchase, the car in heavy as hell, but the sound of v8 is amazing. I love my sc, and hopefully I'll be able to drive til 300K, like other member.

I am very new to this and i might be able to answer my own ques. so bear with me.
If sc4 has 250hp and sc3 has 225, y would you say the sc3 is faster?
weight of sc4?

wow, it is very important news for me. i am new at Lexus. but i am just making sure that if i buy Lexus SC300 which is the year 1995 or 1996, how long will i use it for average year? will it be ok until mileage is 300.000?
