car will turn on a die on me.

i have a 1992 lexus sc 400 and the other day when i was getting on the freeway ramp to go to work. and the car died on me. and ever since i havent been able to get it to turn on. it will turn on for 3 or 4 seconds and suddently die on me. i turn it on and accelerate it up to 3000 rpm and it will still die. there is a check engine light on but it only gives me the code of the oxigen sensor. and thats it. could it be the computer. anything would help. i dont want to take it to the shop because i dont have the money to pay for the diagnostic.

id really apreciated some help

The only thing I think it is, is the sensor being dirty, clean the sensor out with a Q-tip and see what it does then, otherwise if you cant figure it out take it to a shop, doesnt have to be a lexus mechanic shop just any shop that has a computer reader, hussle em' and try to get a diagnosis on ur car for like 20 bucks. Even that, where are u located?

On many Toyota, I've seen fuel pumps go bad after 100K miles, causing erratic operation at first (meaning erratic fuel pressures to the system, and causing mixture to lean out frequently. This will cause an oxygen sensor reading at high exhaust temperatures as abnormal, setting the O2 Sensor check light)

Then if eventually it went bad then the car would lose all fuel pressure and not start or run...

PErhaps you may want to begin checking the fuel pump by diagnosis here?

After it checks fine, go and check if all ignition components are in order, as faults here will give O2 Sensor the other end of the spectrum. That is an abnormally rich fuel mixture and setting the diagnostic on as well.

Dead ignition wouldn't keep an engine on either...
